Eyebrow Lift Procedure with Endoscopic Techniques

An endoscopic brow lift, also called a forehead lift, can surgically correct drooping eyebrows and soften worried or angry expressions that result from frown lines.  The Brow Lift procedure is available in our Downton Burlington and North York locations.

What is a
Brow Lift?

The endoscope is inserted into several small incisions placed just behind the hairline, providing the surgeon with a clear view of the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. The surgeon will then insert another instrument through one of the small incisions to lift the skin and remove or alter muscle, if necessary. During this procedure, the eyebrows and forehead and be lifted and secured at the optimal height as determined by your surgeon. The surgery can be conducted on an outpatient basis in our private surgical facility.

Endoscopic brow lift patients typically are between the ages of 40 and 60 and want to reduce the visible effects of aging, but many younger people who have developed facial lines as a result of stress, trauma, or repeated muscle movement may find that the procedure is helpful in restoring an appearance that is more youthful.

Endoscopic brow lifts can also be combined with an endoscopic mid-face lift, where the mid portion of the face is raised, restoring fullness to the cheeks and helping to flatten the nasolabial folds or lines between the nose and corner of the mouth.

What are the Benefits of a Brow Lift

Many individuals can find they appear tired, angry or sad due to the way their brow sits. Some of this can be through the aging process, where lines begin to form on the forehead and skin droops toward the eyes. There are instances when these lines are created on the forehead by continually pulling up the brow to prevent drooping skin from blocking a person’s vision.

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift can:

  • Reduces the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, as well as those that occur on the bridge of the nose, between the eyes
  • Improves frown lines, the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows
  • Raises sagging brows that are hooding the upper eyelids
  • Places the eyebrows in an alert and youthful position

Brow Lift Candidates

You may be a candidate for brow lift surgery if you:

  • Are physically healthy
  • Nonsmoker
  • Have a positive outlook and realistic goals
  • If you have frown lines between the brows that can make us look angry or “too serious.”
  • If you have skin relaxation that causes eyebrows to drop, hooding our upper eyelids and making us look tired

Open Brow Lift

An open brow lift is used when there is greater laxity to the skin and skin excision is required. In this procedure, the scar can be hidden directly along the hairline or deep within the scalp. Which incision is chosen is individually based and will be discussed at the time of your consultation.

Mini Brow Lift

Mini-brow lift is a less-invasive surgical procedure that helps patients achieve a fresh, rejuvenated facial aesthetic. This procedure is performed using a tiny incision concealed within the hairline through which forehead muscles are surgically released.

Brow Lift Recovery

Immediately after surgery, you will experience some temporary swelling and bruising in your eyebrow and forehead areas, which may last for up to 10 days. On the first night, it is important to rest with your head elevated. You can use a cold compress to help control swelling. You may also experience mild discomfort immediately following the procedure and may be prescribed oral medications.

Dressings are removed within a few days after surgery. You can usually take a shower and wash your hair a few days later. When healing begins, you may experience numbing and itching at the incision sites. Most of our brow lift Burlington patients recover from the traditional brow lift surgery in about two weeks.
